Road Bike: Carinthia Lakes & Mountains

Price per person from € 1090,-

Description

Carinthia is the southernmost province of Austria and impresses with a landscape characterized by crystal clear lakes as well as a diverse mountain scenery. Gentle mountains are just as much a part of it as the highest mountain in Austria - the Großglockner. This road bike tour leads to the most beautiful places of the region. The starting point is Villach, a lively city located in the heart of Carinthia. The tour leads past Lake Ossiach and over Lake Millstätter See and the Mölltal valley into the neighboring province of East Tyrol. Here a highlight awaits that will make racing cyclists' hearts beat faster: a detour to the Großglockner mountain road. Once you reach the Franz-Josefs-Höhe, the view of the summit and the glacier is the reward for the effort. After that, the next highlight awaits - Lake Weissensee. The program then includes Lake Klopein, Lake Wörthersee and the Keutschach Lake Valley, where you will also find the famous Pyramidenkogel. There are a few meters of altitude until you can look from the unique wooden tower on almost all of Carinthia. In any case, the view extends all the way to the Dobratsch, which towers over Villach, where the Villach Alpine Road leads up to the end of the tour.

Characteristics of the Route

Carinthia's roads are in very good condition for riding a road bike. For the tour, low-traffic side roads have been selected, as well as bike paths that are partially suitable for racing bikes.
